    Additional South Lee Info

During a recent stay in Stockbridge, I stopped in at the Historic Merrell Inn in South Lee.   Innkeeper George Crockett was nice enough to take the time to give me a tour of the inn and learn some of it's history.   This is historic stagecoach inn is decorated with period pieces.  Four rooms have the original wood burning fireplaces.  A full breakfast is served at tables for two in the large dining room.  The inn has a lovely location along the river and guests can enjoy the views from the gazebo or lawn chairs located around the property during the summer or curl up with a book in the old Tavern in front a roaring fire in sweater weather.  The Riverview suite is located the first level in a separate wing and offers the ultimate in privacy as well as its own porch with wonderful vistas.  Rose

    Other Lee Visits

    Applegate B&B, Lee

A beautiful Georgian colonial home decorated with antiques, Oriental rugs and fine reproductions.   The common areas are large and inviting, from the living room with its grand piano to the heated sun room that can be enjoyed year round.   Rooms are romantic and all have fireplaces.  Room 1 has a fantastic, large steam shower.  Afternoon wine and tea is served is offered and the full breakfast is elegantly served by candlelight on fine china and crystal.   The property also has a lovely pool.

    Crabtree Cottage, Lee

Just a block off the main street of Lee, the Crabtree Cottage is a cozy 1862 home where innkeeper Jeffrey grew up.   He and his wife Janis now invite you to visit their delightful B&B.   There are two queen bedded guest suites and a small apartment for extended stays.

Both the Masters Chamber and Julias Suite have private baths, TV/VCRs and air conditioning and are very appealing.   A country inn breakfast is served each morning.   Cordials are also available in the living room for guests.

    Federal House, South Lee

Located one mile from Stockbridge center, this Greek revival B&B is just minutes away from Lenox.   Guest rooms are located on both the first and second floor.  I liked the Tack Room on the first floor with its wood beams and access to porch.   Sue and *** Cody have done a lovely job decorating the inn.  The common areas are attractive as well as comfortable.    They have added a large pantry for guests where coffee, tea and soda are available at all times.   A full breakfast is served each morning by candlelight. http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/ppf/inn/200535/Listing.aspx

Shopping:  In addition to the village shops in Lenox and Stockbridge, the outlet mall in Lee has an extensive assortment of outlet and factory stores.  This outdoor mall is a mini village of shops with sidewalks and even some curbside parking.
