    Galveston B&B

Rudeness does not pay!  We tried repeatedly to make reservations at the Inn at 1816 Post Office for three rooms.  After many emails, we finally got a response that our requests had been acknowledged.  Never got anything else except requests for our credit card numbers, which we sent.  We finally decided that we were not comfortable with this situation and decided to cancel and go to another place.  Our requests for some acknowledgement of our cancellation were ignored (surprise) so we called the inn.  We were told our reservations were cancelled and "goodbye".  The person who answered the call was rude and very abrupt.  Perhaps this is a fortunate situation, we sure do not want to stay somewhere where Texas friendliness has been lost to the dollar sign!

    Hi,
Try The Coppersmith Inn (www.coppersmithinn.com). My husband and I stayed there for our first wedding aniversary and are considering staying there again if we are not able to go out of town (we live about an hour from Galveston). I cannot say enough about the host, the breakfast or just the Inn itself. It is in an old Victorian house, and filled with antiques to add to the comfort and charm that it naturally brings. We stayed in Victoria's Room and loved it! Although the house was full at the time we were there, we never heard anyone else except for when we went down for breakfast the next morning.

Thank you for the recommendation of the Coppersfield Inn.  If you don't mind, I am going to post it under a new subject to bring the info up front.  wink

No problem! I would also like to add that they have a Anniversary/Honeymoon Package that is great! It includes a hand made copper rose (to go with the Coppersmith theme) that is beautiful!

That is unfortunate. It may have been the person was having a bad day. Still, no excuse for not showing hospitality and not being responsive via email in this day and age. We have featured the inn and many others on the island via our travel site, and will be visiting several for a new segment on Galveston. The area is a treasure of unique b&bs and so many historic buildings.
