The Volcano Community Association is debuting a cultural event on October 18, 2008.  Come to the island of Hawai'i and experience an exciting series of events of our Makahiki Ma Ka Ma'ukele.  During the day, we will have a lei contest, a lei exhibition, and a lei-making workshop.  Plant vendors will be on hand to sell foliage and flowering plants for lei-making.  We will have a konane tournament for people who like board games.  There will be a silent auction showcasing the artistic talents among the Volcano community members.  All of these events will be at the Cooper Community Center in Volcano.

Musician Cyril Pahinui will be conducting a slack key guitar workshop at Keakealani Outdoor Education Center from 9:00 am - 1:30 pm.  He is our featured performer at the evening lu'au at the Carlsen Court on the Cooper Community Center campus.  The dinner begins at 6:00 pm and will feature traditional Hawaiian food and wonderful music and entertainment by community musicians and dancers.
