    Re: La Posada, Winslow

Can we tell you of our honeymoon experience? The hotel was a grand old lady but was not finished when we visited. The restaurant was one of the finest meals we ever had!! WOW and worth EVERY penny... BUT the room (we stayed in the Howard Hughes room) was TERRIBLE; a beautiful bed; but no amenities it was BLEAK and UN INVITING! There was nothing cozy or comfortable to the room, it was stark, and we thought it wouild be romatic .. so sad!

The hotel was interesting , but we found the desk staff cool and stand offish, though we tried to engage them in conversation. We had to haul our own luggage up the stairs to our room.. No one to help… A couple of things that struck us as odd 1) the staff dress was so casual we could not tell them from guest? Jeans ? and polo shirts in a “hacienda type hotel?… 2) the art work ..modern and political and way over sized taking up major wall space in every area we wondered what this more modern art was doing in a western turn of the century hotel…

Out last complaint was Winslow, wow this town is SO disappointing, SO poor we thought we would have to wear green army uniforms and learn to roll cigars as we felt like we where in Cuba!!!!!!!!!!!!!All that was missing was the chickens and cattle in the streets..

We feel bad for the citizens of Winslow and the town itself, so really this is not funny. Winslow and La Posada was our worst experience in Arizona and since the hotel may have been grand it was NOT INVITING and Winslow unlike the romantic song, was poor and desolate…we will NOT be standing on the street corner in Winslow AZ… ever again.
