Looking for a Small Inn to Manage

My dream has always been to retire into my own Bed and Breakfast as an Innkeeper. Unfortunately, with the economy in the state that it is in, finding employment to retire from has become the nightmare that I live with on a daily basis.

I have my Bachelors degree in Marketing Management from a small private college, along with a double Associates in Technical Studies for Management and Marketing from an accredited  Community College.

My past work experience has been within the Food Service/Hospitality Industry on and off for the last 19 years. I have my Serve-safe certification and a little over a year experience as a Opening Manager for Bob Evans Restaurants.  I have experience in seasonal operations as well on South Bass Island on Lake Erie in 1999 and 2002. As well as 2 seasons in Marble-head Ohio in 2000-01.  The last few years have been spent as a part-time Office Administrator.

If anyone is looking for a live-in Innkeeper, please respond to this post and I will forward you a copy of my resume.

    Hi,
What are you looking for in the way of salary or do you hope to find work in the area of the B & B with the room within the Inn being your compensation for help within the Inn?
Are you planning to buy an Inn? If so, what is your hope for a B & B? Size? Price?

Re: Looking for a Small Inn to Manage

    Hello,

I have been researching and had previously been offered room and board along with $20,000 per year. This was for a 9 room Inn. I immediately decided that it would be too much responsiblity for my first position and that I would be alone with only 1 part-time employee during the summer months. I am still looking for a smaller Inn, 4-6 rooms, in which I would expect room and board along with reasonable compensation comparable to what I had been offered.

I would love to buy my own Inn, but that will not be possible for a very long time.

    Thank you for the response.
