• Re: Innkeeper couple available now!

Dannyjo, Your B&B sounds like the kind of place we're looking for. Please email me (becrumbled@yahoo.com) so that we can further discuss the opportunity you have available. Although we have been looking in the Northeast, the Gulf Coast of Mississippi is definitely very appealing to us. I look forward to hearing from ...

  • Re: Flying Couple

Try doing a google search and then emailing lodges in Alaska. They're pretty much all hiring right now for the summer season. I know the Royal Wolf Lodge in Katmai National Park was looking for a pilot and housekeeper recently. Good luck!

  • Re: Credit card processing system??

Again, I must mention that I am seeking a position with a B&B and my experience is in retail ownership and management. However, look for the lowest rates and keep in mind per card fees, per percentage fees, and monthly fees. I used to have a $10 minimum, which is technically against the rules. Discover called me on that and I ...

  • Re: B&B security Guests entrance

Call it paranoia, but I will tell you what I look for in a B&B and what I would provide for guests (and my own peace of mind). I am absolutely not ok with the front door being open 24 hours. I think it is the innkeeper's duty to greet a guest at any time, but understand that things happen. In that case, or in the ...

  • Re: Health insurance for innkeepers

MunroHouse, I'm sorry to hear about your wife:( My best advice is to find a good agent. I've mentioned before that I'm a former small business owner, though not in the B&B industry. I don't even want to get started on my personal feelings on the industry...you will probably not have the number of employees to qualify for a ...

  • Re: B&B demographics

Sandy gave some great resouces! You know, it never hurts to call and ask...sit down with a few innkeepers who have the clientele you aspire to have and find out about their customer base and who they are targeting. I have not written a business plan for an inn, though I have done so for a retail business and helped a friend write his ...

  • Re: Compensation Inquiry

Probably not very much. 3-5 rooms with average occupancy isn't going to bring in a lot of revenue. Then there's likely a mortgage, plus other expenses like utilities, building upkeep, insurance, licensing, and advertising. The owner will want a cut of the little that is leftover...which doesn't leave much in the way of salary for ...

  • Innkeeper couple available now!

We are interested in relocating to the New England region and looking for a career change. Although neither of us has innkeeping experience, we will certainly make up for that in our desire to help your business flourish and grow. I feel that our combined experience in management, F&B, marketing, sales, and event ...
