If you are looking for a really great place to stay that's quiet and out of the way, then try West Hill House in Warren, Vermont.  It is in the middle of the state but towards the northern part of Vermont.  Located about a mile from Sugarbush Ski Area it is off the beaten track on a quiet road.  The scenery is gorgeous, the accommodations are fantastic, the food is yummy and the hosts, Dotty & Eric are like family.  Plus there are all sorts of things to do while you are there, besides relax!  Visit Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, Sample maple syrup and apple cider, shop, shop, and more shop, and visit historic Montpelier and even an interesting cemetery in Barre!  Try it, I guarantee you this will be the best part of your vacation!

We visited this area a few years ago and loved it.  Spent one day shopping (don't miss the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory) and another "grazing"  - Ben & Jerry's, Cabot's, Green Mt. Coffee Roasters, a cider mill, sugar shed plus having dinner at Miguel's.   Thanks for the great report.  Rose

Stayed at West Mountain Inn in Arlington VT last week -- about ten miles south of Manchester.  Wonderfully old-fashioned country inn, with great views, convenient country setting, delicious breakfasts and dinners, lots of common space for guests to relax, and spacious guest rooms with great beds.  No in-room TVs or phones, although we were able to stay in touch with the free wi-fi throughout the inn! Family-friendly, too.
