Don't go to the Copper Crest Resort!!! At least not in the next few years. A friend and I planned a great trip to Asheville, NC over the Labor Day weekend. We wanted to stay in a charming B&B, visit Biltmore, etc. We found the Copper Crest Resort and Inn and thought it looked like a fun, affordable place. However...the first thing that went wrong was that the directions on the web site were completely wrong and it took us nearly an hour longer to get there than it should have, THEN we get there and our rooms were overpoweringly musty and moldy (bad for people with allergies). We did get new rooms, which were only moderately better than the original ones. Breakfast was a joke...cold eggs, oatmeal, grits, cold cereal, cold English muffins, lukewarm coffee. There wasn't even salt and pepper on the tables. The chairs were folding chairs, which did not inspire confidence when sitting in them. The place has wonderful potential. The main house is absolutely beautiful but when you are paying the kind of money even the cheap rooms cost, you expect a good bit more than you get. Also, it's about 30 minutes away from Asheville. The owner has not gotten in touch with us about compensation, after two phone calls, so that means that he's not really concerned about his guests. If you want a great Asheville experience, stay at the Black Walnut Inn or any other inn actually located in Asheville!
