Lazy Bear Lodge in Villas, NC - Excellent!

We had the distinct pleasure of staying at the Lazy Bear Lodge in Villas, just outside of Boone, NC. The innkeeper Anne has thought of everything!

The room was impeccable. The room was tastefully decorated and had a large, comfy bed. In the corner was a gas-powered fireplace/woodstove. The bathroom was a real treat - a Jacuzzi whirlpool tub and a glass-enclosed shower. It was a big bathroom, too. Lots of room to pad around and get dressed.

We'd had an excruciating drive and when we crawled into bed that night, the scent of lavender drifted up from the pillows. The pillows! What can I say about them? Not too soft, not too hard - perfect! The bed linens were the softest cotton I've ever encountered. But it didn't stop there. The towels were also scented - not overpowering, either. Just hints of something very nice. And soft! The towels were as soft as the sheets.

Also available are big thick robes for guests to use. And if that's not enough, didn't Anne leave an iron, ironing board and hair dryer in each room? She really thought of everything. Each time I needed something and went looking, there it was.

Breakfast is beyond the typical B&B fare. We were treated to Eggs Benedict, but with a bernaise sauce instead of hollandaise. Incredible!

The entire inn is there for the guests' comfort. The kitchen is available for snacks or for guests to cook their dinners. There is a puzzle in the dining area that folks can wander in and try tackling. The porch looks out onto a beautiful view of the mountains. And the sitting area is a vaulted ceiling with floor-to-ceiling windows.

You seriously cannot, and will not, go wrong if you choose to stay here.

Lazy Bear Lodge in Villas, NC - Excellent!

    Hi Lori,
We returned from western NC earlier this week and also stopped in Valle Crucis one night. I am in the process of preparing my reports now, however, I had to comment because I know what you mean about the drive. Unfortunately, the day we set out for VC was rainy and extremely foggy. Not fun on those roads. More to come on the great places we stayed at and some lovely inns in Asheville that I visisted.
Lazy Bear was one of my original choices when planning our trip but they were booked on the weekend but I may be heading back in the spring to do more research and I appreciate the positive report.
