Starting a new B&B Association in Peru

There are several of us in the Cusco region of Peru -- the jumping off point to Machu Picchu - who are interested in forming our own B&B Association. Eventually we would like to cover all of Peru and affiliate back with US and other international B&B Associations for better branding and leverage in confrontation to the larger hotel chains that are cropping up.
What are the concerns, points of interest and issues which need to be considered in creating this Association as far as being able to trust one another while working in the same tourist-crazed city as well as incentives that work for building a strong brand and affiliation with in a country?
    thank you,
    Adam W.

    Hi Adam!

That's an exciting challenge!  I'm not sure where to suggest starting -- my first question would be in regard to inspections -- typically in local associations in the U.S. an inspection process is set up, so that all members can be confident in recommending each other.  Next, I'd investigate setting up an association website with an availability calendar, like this one: http://staugustineinns.com/, so that someone looking for a place to stay during a busy time doesn't have to contact multiple properties to see who has room.  For a reasonably complete list of associations, click here:  http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/innkeepers/BnBAssociations.aspx

    Hope this helps!

You may want to contact an association directly for their advice. We have worked closely with several associations, most recently the Galveston B&Bs. Visit the top email link here and ask them, and mention that I had suggested you contact.
