I recently stayed at the Hotel Chesterfield in the Shippan Point section of Stamford (elegant, waterfront neighborhood).  I could not be more impressed. It is a luxury "boutique hotel" in a meticulously restored 19th Century Mansion. Every detail from the furnishings and art work to the stately private baths and spacious rooms...left me in awe. There is a private fitness center and massage room on site as well, for those truly looking to relax while away. The staff had no problem transporting us around town in the complimentary shuttle ( a Porsche SUV!) or to the train station for our journey home. BTW: Breakfast was delicious! Full continental breakfast is served daily, as well as wine and artisanal cheese in the evening. My husband and I wish we could move in!
